How To Select Tiles Episode 3- Vitrified Tiles

Episode 3: This session delves deep into Vitrified tiles, how they are made and advantages of Vitrified tiles Vitrification is a Hardening process. All tiles that undergo vitrification is called Vitrified Tiles. We can understand the strength of hardening to making of Aruval( Sickle) which is made by immersing hot iron in water. Tiles being heated to 1200-1300 C, makes it like glass. This reduces the water absorption to less than 0.5%. This ensures that Vitrified tiles can withstand Hard stains like Coffee stains for longer duration. Vitrification also improves the surface hardness popularly know as Scratch Resistance tiles. All Vitrified tiles are Scratch proof tiles. On Mohs Scale, vitrified tiles are ranked between 6-7 whereas Ceramic tiles are ranked 3-4 only. In general all vitrified tiles are Scratch and Stain proof tiles. The types of Vitrified tiles will be detailed in the next session
